Send a postcard to political prisoner and journalist Nika Novak!

Политзаключённая журналистка Ника Новак

On July 15, Russian journalist Nika Novak will spend her birthday in a penal colony. We ask you to send her birthday cards from all over the world — the more countries and cities represented, the better.

Nika loves poetry. You can send her your favorite poem or simply a few kind words of encouragement.

Journalist and former political prisoner Alsu Kurmasheva also invites you to support Nika:

“Your letters and postcards were more than just words on paper for me. Every stamp on an envelope was a window to the world of freedom. It was only thanks to them that I didn’t lose my mind. Nika will feel the same. Let’s send her a thousand cards for her birthday!”

In November 2024, Nika Novak was sentenced to four years in prison on charges of “confidential cooperation with foreigners” — a vague accusation often used in Russia to target independent journalists and civil society actors.

You can send a letter, postcard, or folded greeting card to the following address:

RU: 669511, Иркутская область, Эхирит-Булагатский район, п. Бозой, ИК-11 ГУФСИН России по Иркутской области, Новак Нике Александровне, 1992 г. р.
