Sentenced to 6 years in a general regime penal colony on charges of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 282.2 of the Russian Criminal Code ("Organizing the activities of an extremist organisation") in connection with membership in a community of Jehovah's Witnesses, banned in Russia. The appellate court upheld the sentence. He was in custody from October 1, 2020 to March 30, 2021, when he was transferred to house arrest.

He was taken into custody again on October 6, 2022.
