Badmaev Aleksei Borisovich

Badmaev Aleksey Borisovich, born March 18, 2003, citizen of the Russian Federation, resident of Irkutsk, student of Baikal State University.

On January 29, 2025, he was sentenced under Art. 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("High treason: providing financial assistance to a foreign state, foreign organisation and their representatives in activities directed against the security of the Russian Federation"), Part 2 of Art. 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Public propaganda of terrorism using the Internet") and Part 3 of Art. 30, Part 1 of Art. 208 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Attempted financing of an illegal armed formation") to 7 years of imprisonment. On May 13, 2025, the appellate court increased the sentence and sentenced Badmaev to 14 years of imprisonment, with the first 2 years and 6 months to be served in prison and the remainder of the term to be served in a strict regime penal colony, as well as to a restriction of freedom after release for a period of 1 year and 6 months.

He is to be deprived of liberty no later than January 12, 2024.
